You need a website!
No matter the size of your business, and whether you sell products or services that you do not think can be marketed online, you should have a website. No question about it.
Do not dismiss your product or service as something that cannot be sold online. When you long onto the internet you can find just about every type of product and service. There are more than 20 million shoppers, on average, online at any given moment. These shoppers are purchasing everything from books, computers, phones, cars, airplanes and real estate. You name it, you imagine it, and looking you can find it on the internet.
However, I am not recommending you put all your efforts into selling your products or services over the internet, but if your product lends itself to easy online sales than you should definitely consider selling it over the internet. What is important here is that you should at the very least have a presence on the internet so that future customers, and perhaps even future investors, can quickly find you and the services or products that you offer.
Quality of a website is important
Having a business website is not something that you just throw together. It is something that needs a lot of thought and planning. You need to have a professional looking website if you want your business to be taken seriously. Since many of today’s consumers first search online for information prior to making a purchase, your website will be the first chance you will have at making a good impression. However, if your website was designed by monkeys randomly typing on the keyboard and playing with the mouse then the chances of your potential customer having a good first impression will be lost. Your website in future searches will always be passed over.
One of the advantages that the internet provides is that it levels the playing field for both small and large companies. As stated in the previous paragraph, you have one opportunity at making a good first impression. Having a professionally design website will project the image and professionalism of a large company. The inverse is also true, having a poorly designed website will create a bad reputation for your company and as previously stated people will remember the name and pass you over.
However, do not get dismayed. There are plenty of large companies with poorly designed websites. The websites are so badly designed that they are hard to navigate and many are an eyestrain to look at. They completely lack professionalism and credibility.
Therefore, when it comes to websites, the size of the business does not matter. It is just very important that you have a website for your business. If you do not have a website, you are losing business to other companies that do have a website. However, there is one exception: It is better to not have a website if it is going to be poorly designed and will make your business look bad.
Your website is the door to your business on the internet. It is the window to your business for the window shoppers. Your website is the most important part of your business!
